The Devil's Mouth (2026): Review

 A cheesy B movie that has enough good jumpscares to make it a decent watch.

The story line in this movie was a basic setup, and felt pretty predictable at times. It did feel like a combination of the two 47 Meters Down movies, but man did they nail the claustrophobic setting better. I actually felt bad for the characters who died, as they all (Except for 1) seemed pretty likeable.

The acting in this movie was good for the most. Kathryn Newton did a lousy job, which was kind of annoying considering she was the biggest star in this film, and she easily gave the worst performance of the film. Lana Condor did the best job in the movie as you couldn't stand her at all. Gavin Casalegno did a very good job and made a case as the best actor in the movie as you felt so bad for him when the attacks started happening. Nico Hiraga did a good job as well, and he deserved a better girlfriend than who he had. Tommi Rose gave a great performance also, and did a good job at making you feel sorry for her character.

The jumpscares in this film were really good. While the CGI looked really bad at times, there were some great shots showing the shark's fin and showing the shark in the shadows, so it kind of help make up for it. The film could've been a little bit shorter, but I appreciate them for trying to develop the characters at the beginning of the movie. The claustrophobic feeling in this movie was really good also.

When compared to other shark films, it is about average. It was not the worst shark movie I have ever seen, but it certainly wasn't one of the better ones. It could have been better if Kathryn Newton had given a better performance, but ultimately it just felt like she didn't care.

Overall, The Devil's Mouth has some solid moments, good suspenseful scenes, and is well acted for the most part, but it is held back by some lousy CGI, a predictable story, and a poor performance from Kathryn Newton.

The Mandalorian and Grogu: Review

 This is not the way!

The story line in this movie was so bland and predictable. I was genuinely looking forward to this movie, and was so bored right off the bat. The story did not do it for me emotionally, and it had no scenes that really got me pumped up like the show did. I honestly have nothing good to say about the overall story line in this movie.

The acting was bland for the most part. Pedro Pascal did a good job, but he was about the only actor who looked like he even cared. Sigourney Weaver looked so bored and not even interested in the slightest, her character being a pilot felt so out of place also. Jeremy Allen White did OK as Rotta the Hutt. At times he felt convincing, but at other times he just felt like he was going through the motions.

The action scenes were pretty lame also. They did not get me pumped up, and looked so dull. The only fight scene that had my attention was when Mando fought the Bounty Hunter Embo, but the fight should have been longer. But, the visuals were good. I liked the design of the Hutts, and the animatronic for Grogu looked really good.

The Anzellans were arguably the best part of the movie. They had me laughing and felt like the whole reason I kept watching the movie.

I do not know what their plans are for either a 4th season, or a new movie, but I just hope the next one is written a lot better than this was. But, it can't be any worse, can it?

Overall, Pedro Pascal tries his hardest but his efforts are squashed by the poor screenplay, lackluster action scenes, and bland acting.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day: Review

 A fitting title as the MCU takes another step in the right direction!

The story line in this movie was exactly what I wanted. It had so much emotion in it, and really pulled at your heart strings multiple times. It felt like the kind of Spider-Man movie that feels ripped right out of the comics. It did not sacrifice the emotion for some cool action scenes or cameos, which I really respect them for doing. I was just satisfied with how everything came together in this movie's story line, and it also left a lot of things unanswered, which excites me as it allows me to speculate what will happen in the next movie!

The acting in this movie was outstanding. Tom Holland continues to solidify himself as the best actor to play both Peter Parker and Spider-Man. His facial expressions during emotional scenes, and his ability to switch emotions on a dime is amazing. Zendaya once again showed why she is the best leading lady in a Spider-Man movie. Her chemistry with Tom Holland is just as charming as ever, and she really did a good job at her ability to play a different version of MJ who felt similar, yet was different. Jacob Batalon still has his charm as Ned, and I wonder what the future holds for his character. Jon Bernthal had to play a more toned down version of The Punisher, but man did he have amazing chemistry with Holland, loved his scenes with MJ also. Sadie Sink easily stole the show as Jean Grey. She did a great job at conveying how hurt she was, but man when she let out her anger, that girl easily stole the show. Sadie has a bright future ahead of her as Jean, and what a perfect casting choice it was. Florence Pugh's 2 scenes were so charming, and she has great chemistry with Tom Holland. Marisa Tomei's one scene was so emotional, and I'm glad they managed to fit her into the movie. Mark Ruffalo finally portrayed a version of Bruce Banner that I have been waiting to see since Age of Ultron.

The action scenes in this movie were really great. The fight scene between Peter and Savage Hulk was so satisfying, and I loved how the fight ended, great to see Savage Hulk again also. The fight scene between Peter and the Hand was so amazing, and it just felt like it was ripped right out of a comic book. Easily the best action scenes from Tom Holland's Spider-Man movies.

The film left a lot of questions unanswered on purpose. The 2 main questions being, did Jean restore MJ's memories while Peter was recovering, and did Ned actually get his memories back at the end of the movie when he and Peter did their handshake? I am inclined to believe that they could go either way with this, and they would be totally justified. With MJ, the fact that she was sitting in the spot and that she and Peter used to go, and the fact that she was holding the necklace Peter gave her at the end of Far From Home, and the fact that she was crying when Jean had her frozen, no other character was crying when Jean had them frozen. I could speculate till the cows come home about this, but I am just so glad that this movie has me asking these kinds of questions.

I am curious to see whether or not Holland shows up in Doomsday. I am leaning towards no, but you never know. I do believe that he will play a major role in Secret Wars alongside Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield though.

In terms of things I hope to see in the 5th Spider-Man movie, I really hope it is another grounded Spider-Man film. I would love to see the villains be Tombstone and Scorpion, as they have the most potential. One villain I would love to see also is Kraven the Hunter, but I think if they were to use him, he would be used in the 6th film. For smaller villains, I'd like to see them do a more accurate version of Rhino and have him as like a side villain for the main villain. If they wanted a gang war for the next film, you have to have Tombstone be battling against either Hammerhead or Hobgoblin for control of the streets. I would not be opposed also to seeing Vulture and/or Mysterio return as well, or seeing Prowler return. I do also have a feeling that the Symbiote will arrive also, and it would not surprise me if they decide to have it attach itself to Scorpion, as they have already built up a rivalry between him and Spider-Man, this way they do not need to create a new version of Eddie Brock.

I do believe the overall plan with this current trilogy though is to introduce Miles Morales in the next film and possibly Gwen Stacey. I do not believe that they will kill off Tom Holland's Spider-Man, but I think this is how they will have him step away for a time so that they can use Miles and Gwen as the new heroes. Peter and MJ are going to rekindle their relationship at some point, and it would not surprise me if this next trilogy ends with their characters riding off into the sunset.

Overall, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is an emotionally moving Spider-Man film that gives you everything could ask for, while setting up the rest of his trilogy for an exciting finish.

Masters of the Universe (2026): Review

 A fun, if far from perfect movie, that is highlighted by brilliant performances from Jared Leto and Alison Brie.

The story line in this film was very cheesy. It definitely felt like they were trying to make it cheesy, and trying to make it feel like an episode from the original show. The humor at times was hit or miss, but man when it was on it had me dying of laughter. I also really liked how much heart they put into this movie, I was shocked and I really liked it. Travis Knight gave it a cheesy 80s vibe, which I can respect. The screenplay at times was pretty weak though, except in the case of Skeletor and Evil-Lyn.

The acting in this movie was good. Nicholas Galitzine was decent as a younger version of He-Man, but I think he would have done a much better job if he had a bit of a tighter script at times. Camila Mendes made the most of what she had, but sometimes her dialogue needed improvement. Idris Elba gave a good performance as well, but it really wasn't a groundbreaking new role for him. Alison Brie was the 2nd best part of the movie, she absolutely knocked it out of the park as Evil-Lyn, her facial expressions stole the show also. Jared Leto's performance as Skeletor was easily the best part of the movie. He was very good at being comedic and also very serious at the time, easily one of Jared Leto's best performances and I hope he returns if they do a sequel (And I would not at all be opposed to seeing Leto play Cobra Commander in a future G.I. Joe movie).

The visuals and action sequences in this movie were great. The visuals never looked bad, and I was pleased with how good Skeletor looked. The action sequences were made better by the amazing musical score in this movie as well.

They have let plenty of room open for a sequel. I know the film flopped at the box office, but Amazon Prime has talked about being open to releasing a sequel straight to Prime Video, which I would be 100% fine with. I just hope they develop He-Man and Teela's relationship a little bit more, as the 2 actors did have a lot of good chemistry. While I want Skeletor to come back, I would honestly prefer if Evil-Lyn is more front and center as the main villain, as she has a lot of potential as the main villain in a sequel. Either way, Skeletor and Evil-Lyn need to be the main villains in a sequel.

Overall, Masters of the Universe is what it is. A fun throwback to the 80s, and while it suffers at times, it is saved by its heart, visuals, musical score, action scenes, and stellar performances from Jared Leto and Alison Brie.

Disclosure Day: Review

 An abrupt end squanders a well acted movie.

The story line started out really well. It felt like a combination of Spielberg's movies Minority Report and ET. I was hooked in when the first act ended. By the time the second act ended I had a bad feeling. The third act just didn't do it for me. The ending just felt so abrupt, and the film just didn't resonate with me in the end, and it felt like a copy and paste of The Abyss by James Cameron.

The acting in this movie was so well done! Josh O'Connor did a great job, and he has showed that he has a bright future ahead of him. Emily Blunt arguably gave the best performance of her career. Colin Firth was intriguing, but his character had such bad writing at the end. Wyatt Russell was heavily underused, which was such a shame. Eve Hewson's performance was hit or miss for me at times. Elizabeth Marvel did a very good job as well. Courtney Grace's performance in the last few minutes was arguable the best performance in the movie, and she nearly saves the third act.

The chase sequences did not do it for me. I felt no suspense, and I was quite bored whenever there was a chase scene. 

At times, it felt like Steven Spielberg really had his mojo back, but the film just lacked the magic that he had in his younger days. The musical score though was amazing, John Williams felt like John Williams again. The visuals looked great also.

I would imagine that there had to be a deleted scene involving Colin Firth's decision to help Emily and Josh at the end because his sudden turn just when he sees a vision of his wife was such bad writing, and was really disappointing! The artifacts that the government would use to track the main characters felt like plot armor and were not doing it for me also.

Overall, Disclosure Day has traces of Steven Spielberg's earlier films and is well acted, but lackluster chase scenes, too many plot holes, and an abrupt ending squander the potential!

Backrooms (2026): Review

 A sudden change of direction in the third act squanders a suspenseful movie.

The story line started out exactly how I wanted it to. It had some very suspenseful moments, and man was it keeping me on the edge of my seat. I was disappointed when the third act's twist was revealed, it felt like the suspense was gone. I also didn't like how they just got rid of two supporting characters and then hardly brought them up again.

The acting was really good. Chiwetel Ejiofor did a great job, but I wasn't entirely sure if I should like or dislike him, but I think that was the whole point by the end of the movie. Renate Reinsve did a great job as well, and managed to make the third act watchable due to her performance. Finn Bennett & Lukita Maxwell did good jobs, but they were heavily underused!

The found footage stuff is more of what I was expecting the movie to be throughout. I really wish they had stuck with that, because man did it get creepy and put me on the edge of my seat. The final chase scene in the third act was really irritating because she kept taking too long to make up her mind and move. They should have kept the tone of the first 2 acts, especially the opening scene.

I know they are planning on doing a sequel, but I am not sure how you plan on expanding the story. I really hope it is more of a found footage kind of film, and that it does not try to have some kind of massive twist to it.

Overall, Backrooms started out with so much promise, but the third act derails it sadly.

Enola Holmes 3: Review

 A dull film that wastes its core cast!

The story line in this movie was so weak! There was no mystery to it whatsoever, and that has been the main reason why I enjoyed the first two movies. There were so many bad character moments as well, and I absolutely hated how they portrayed Sherlock Holmes as almost incompetent. The villain in this movie was weak as well. Enola's whole character was so dull and boring sadly, as she was such a joy to watch in the first 2 films, and see the journey her character went through to be a good detective. 

The acting was mixed for me. Millie Bobby Brown is always able to make the most with what she has (Look no further than Stranger Things: Season 5), and she always does good with her facial expressions. I have always liked Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, and it was too bad he wasn't used better in this movie. Helena Bonham Carter stole the show for me, and I was happy they gave her a bigger role, even if she needed more scenes with Henry Cavill. Himesh Patel did an awful job as Dr. Watson, easily the biggest fumble of this movie. Sharon Duncan-Brewster was not a good choice for Professor Moriarty, it should have been Idris Elba. Louis Partridge was decent, but he just seemed to be going through the motions.

The film's plot twists were not exciting also, and they were very predictable. I just cannot believe how badly this movie was written. Tewkesbury's decision at the end of the movie completely ruined the journey his character had been going through in the first 2 movies. Sherlock and Watson had no chemistry also, and Moriarty had no depth as a villain!

If there is a sequel, please make sure it has a bigger mystery to it. I would love for it to focus on Enola and Tewesbury becoming parents, as Millie would do such a good job at dealing with the difficulties of being a parent, but also showing how much love she has. I need to see Henry play the fun Uncle also. Give a potential sequel a better villain also!

Such a disappointment, especially coming from the guy who really liked the first two movies. I expected more!

Deep Water (2026): Review

 A basic shark film that works well in the end!

The story line was a pretty basic setup. But man, the film did not hold back when the sharks showed up. I was really surprised with the fact that no one was safe in this movie. You honestly had no idea who was going to make it out in the end. While the dialogue needed a bit of polishing, you really felt for the characters, and they did a good job at developing most of them. 

The acting was solid. Aaron Eckhart at times did not really convey the emotions effectively, but he really picked it up as the movie went on. Ben Kingsley did a great job, despite his limited amount of screen time. Molly Belle Wright was the star of this movie, what an incredible performance by this young lady. Elijah Tamati's performance was a huge surprise as well, loved his performance a lot as well. Rose Zhao gave a memorable performance as well.

There were not a whole lot of jump scares in this movie which kind of disappointed me. There was 1 that really got me though, and ironically it did not involve a shark. They did a good job with the suspenseful build up, but I wish there had been a tad more jump scares.

As shark movies go, this is definitely one of the more memorable ones. Renny Harlin definitely knows how to make a good shark movie. I would put this as an above average shark movie. It ranks above 47 Meters Down, Jaws 2, and The Meg 2: The Trench, but it is below 47 Meters Down: Uncaged, The Shallows, Deep Blue Sea, The Meg, and Jaws.

Overall, I was very impressed with this shark film. It had a lot of heart, some great CGI, good acting from the younger stars, and some well done suspenseful moments, that made up for some of the dialogue, and lack of jump scares. As shark films go, this was good!

Hoppers: Review

 A familiar story line is nearly saved by a surprisingly dark third act!

The story line in this movie was pretty predictable. I had a feeling that the film would end the way it did, but it still managed to surprise me with how dark the end of the 2nd act going into the third act was. I really give Pixar a lot of credit for trying something a little bit more serious. I wish it had ended with the Mayor getting his way and not compromising with Mabel, it would have caused me to give it a better rating, but Pixar had to go the predictable route sadly. I was happy though they made sure to put a lot of the blame on what happened on Mabel and not on Jerry.

The voice acting in this movie was solid. I was impressed with how well Piper Curda did at portraying a lot of different emotions as Mabel. Jon Hamm was almost unrecognizable with his voice performance, and I really liked the job he did. Bobby Moynihan was very funny as King George as well. I was just glad that the main voice actors did their job well.

The animation in this film was beautiful! I have never had a problem with Pixar's animation. 

The humor at times was very hit or miss. I really do not like the juvenile humor they put in animated movies these days, but there were times I was laughing pretty hard. The Shark scene made me laugh so hard, easily the best part of the movie.

I really do not see how they are going to be able to do a sequel, but I have been surprised before. Hopefully it is a little bit more mature, and not as predictable.

The Devil Wears Prada 2: Review

 That's all?!?!?!?

The story line in this movie was so boring! I am not even exaggerating when I say this is probably one of the worst sequels I have ever seen, especially when compared to the first film. The plot made no sense, and there wasn't really any good jokes in this film.

Like seriously, the only thing I liked about this movie was Emily Blunt. She stole the show, and anytime she wasn't on the screen, I was not even remotely interested in anything else!

You had 20 years to come up with a great sequel, and this was the best you could do! This is really pathetic!

I do not want another sequel, EVER! They can't do one now, how they are they going to make another one even halfway decent?

I just disliked almost every aspect of this movie, and even the actors, outside of Emily Blunt, didn't even look interested!

I can't write a proper review because of how upset I am about this movie.

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie: Review

 A fun, ambitious, and thrilling sequel!

I really enjoyed the story line to this movie. Sure, it didn't follow the video games very well, but I loved the ambition that this film had. Loved the character development on Mario & Luigi as well as Bowser also. There were so many fun Easter eggs in this movie also, and I couldn't believe that they somehow managed to fit Mr. Game & Watch into the movie also. Loved the reveal that Princess Peach and Rosalina are sisters also. The humor did not feel forced either, which I loved. Yoshi stole the show in a lot of scenes as well. There was just so many fun things to love about this movie!

The voice acting was great! Chris Pratt and Charlie Day were great as Mario & Luigi respectively, and you could tell they have gotten better at doing the accents. Jack Black once again stole the show as Bowser. Benny Safdie was a perfect choice for Bowser Jr. and I loved how his character was portrayed also. Anya Taylor-Joy sounded more comfortable as Peach in this movie also. Brie Larson was the absolute perfect choice to voice Princess Rosalina, and she knocked it out of the park. Glenn Powell was perfection as Fox McCloud, and I am looking forward to seeing him get his own movie also.

The action scenes in this movie were a huge step up compared to the previous one. I loved how they showcased how much stronger the Mario Brothers have gotten, and I had a smile on my face the whole time. Never in my wildest dreams did I think we would have gotten a fight scene featuring Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Bowser, Mr. Game & Watch, and Bowser Jr. This fight scene showed they can perfectly execute a Super Smash Bros. movie as well.

There are so many possibilities for a sequel, and a few spin-offs as well. They can easily do a direct sequel to this movie, and now I am curious to see what kind of direction they will take with a new Mario Bros. movie. I would imagine they will base it off of Super Mario Odyssey, because it is a major game in the franchise. Really hope Wario and Waluigi are in the sequel also, and that they cast Danny DeVito as Wario, and Willem Dafor as Waluigi.

I need a Luigi's Mansion movie. They could perfectly capture that film in so many ways, and it would be exciting to see some of the scenes from the video game come to life. I really hope they do this movie very soon!

Fox McCloud needs his own movie as well. My one request is that they cast Keanu Reeves as Falco, Miles Teller or Lewis Pullman as Slippy Toad, Jon Hamm as Peppy Hare, and Monica Barbaro as Krystal. Mainly because it would be cool to see the cast from Top Gun: Maverick do this. I am really excited to see an adaptation of Star Fox, and I hope it is done right!

I have no doubt now that a Super Smash Bros. Movie is going to happen. I really hope they let the guys who did this movie do it, mainly because they showed why they are the right choices for this job, and they absolutely nailed the action scenes.

The Strangers - Chapter 3: Review

 A lousy ending to a good trilogy.

The story line in this movie was so dull and boring. The only scene in this movie I really liked was the church scene between Maya and Gregory, it felt pretty intense. I did not care about the extended flashbacks between Gregory/Scarecrow and Shelly/Pin-Up Girl. They didn't even really flesh out Jasmine/Dollface that well either. I was really disappointed that it was not like a reenactment of the first film, but it was Maya and her sister hunting the Strangers down instead. I had a feeling that the sheriff was related to one of the Strangers, and my suspicion was proven correctly.

The acting in this film was solid. Gregory Basso was good, despite his lack of screen time. Madelaine Petsch was the one who carried the movie as usual. Richard Brake did a good job at being a very unlikable man. Ella Bruccoleri's role was in this movie was criminal. As the lady playing Dollface, she should have gotten more screen time! 

You could really tell that the film had been changed a lot, and they had filmed a lot of new scenes. I really want to see the original director's cut of this movie, and they keep hinting that they could do it. If they did do this, I would write a review for the new version of this movie.

I do not see the need for a new movie. I really do not believe that Maya becomes a murderer after killing Scarecrow, and I feel it would be out of character for her. I honestly just want to see the director's cut, or see them do a direct sequel to the 2008 movie, and have Liv Tyler return.
