Death on the Nile: Review

Death on the Nile is another fun whodunit movie!

The story line was a lot more emotional then I was expecting. You really cared of these characters, and by the end of the movie, you really felt emotional for what some of them would have to live with, and what they experienced.

The acting was outstanding, contrary to what the critics said. Kenneth Branagh once again did a fabulous job as Detective Hercule Poirot. Gal Gadot did an excellent job as well and it was sad that she was the one who got killed. Letitia Wright's performance was very emotional, and I felt bad for her in so many ways. For me personally, Russell Brand was the most surprisingly good performance in this. I just really liked him the most for some reason.

The twist was one I had actually called, but I later didn't think I was right cause it was way too predictable, good job as misdirection by director Kenneth Branagh.

The only minor flaw I had with this film, was that it started out really slow. But when it got going, holy moly!

In terms of a sequel, there are so many directions they can take this franchise. I am really looking forward to the 3rd one.

The Batman: Review

The Dark Knight returns to the big screen in a spectacular way.

The story line was a lot different then I was expecting. I knew it would be a detective movie, but it was so much more impactful then I was expecting. They wrote all of the characters so well, and the way all of their story lines tied together was so satisfying! The script was not as good as Batman Begins or The Dark Knight, but it was still very well written.

The acting was outstanding! Robert Pattinson knocked it out of the park as Batman, so glad they casted him! Zoe Kravitz did a good job, but I wasn't blown away by her performance, although her chemistry with Pattinson was spot on (I still prefer David Mazouz and Camren Bicondova from Gotham though.) Paul Dano was spine chilling as the Riddler, and he outdid Jim Carrey in everyway. Jeffrey Wright was a surprise for me, he managed to portray him better than I thought. Colin Farrell stole the show as the Penguin, and I am looking forward to seeing his HBO Max Penguin series! Andy Serkis' Alfred was the heart and soul, and Serkis portrayed him to perfection. John Turturro had a bigger role then I thought he would, great casting choice there!

The action scenes were well done as well. The action scene that stood out of for me was the highway chase between Penguin and Batman. Batman and Catwoman's fight against the Riddler's goons at the end was a great scene as well!

The film definitely leaves multiple options for a sequel going forward. They could opt to adapt "No Man's Land", or they could have the Court of Owls arrive, or they could do a Arkham Asylum adaptation. The ending with Riddler meeting Joker in Arkham Asylum is going to be interesting in terms of how they use Joker going forward. The Mayor's son is someone I could see becoming Robin in a future film as well! So many possibilities, but I hope the Court of Owls is the main villain in the sequel, and then have Scarecrow and Joker in the third movie. They better have Catwoman return in the next film as well, I am interested in seeing how they develop her relationship with Bruce Wayne/Batman going forward! How they develop Bruce Wayne going forward it going to be interesting as well!
