Dune: Part One: Review

Dune: Part one kicks off the start of a new franchise in the best way possible, and leaves plenty of ideas for a sequel around.

The story line flowed very well, and it did not feel like it dragged at all. The director, Denis Villeneuve, did a great job at building a story line, and focusing on characterization, instead of trying to focus on too much action. The story line also did a great job at world building, while still focusing on one specific story line.

The acting was outstanding. While every actor did their job well, the standouts were no doubt, Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, and Stellan Skarsgard. While I know that people were upset with the fact that Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Dave Bautista did not have a lot of screen time, I loved what whey did. They have perfectly set up a sequel that will have them in bigger roles, and the fans will get their wish, and be satisfied.

While it did not have a lot of action, I know that a sequel will have much more action. One other thing that I am wondering, did Josh Brolin's character survive? They left it like that on purpose, but I have a gut feeling that he is still alive.

As I mentioned above, there is plenty of room for so many sequels, spin-offs, and even prequels. The things I am most looking forward in the sequel include seeing more action scenes, character development on Zendaya's character and her relationship with Paul (Based on what I saw, it seems like her and Paul will end up together towards the end of the 2nd film), and for Dave Bautista to be involved more. Warner Bros. please do not screw this up! You have so much potential, just let Denis do what he wants to do!

Out of 4 stars I would give it...
