Spoilers Ahead!
While not Marvel's best, Captain Marvel is certainly one of the better made MCU movies.
The story line had some great twists and turns. The only small problem I had was Jude Law being the villain, not Ben Mendelsohn.
The acting was the film's strong points. Brie Larson I thought did well, while not my ideal casting choice, she certainly exceeded my expectations. Samuel L. Jackson was the film's best actor in my opinion. Ben Mendelsohn, while he did a great job, plays a much better villain. Jude Law played a great villain, but I would have prefered him as Captain Marvel's mentor. Lashana Lynch did a great job, she did a great job as well, I also feel that she is not getting enough praise for her performance.
The film's visual effects were some of the MCU's best. Dr. Strange is still the best one, but Captain Marvel is a very close second.
The film's action scenes were very poorly done. The musical score did not go well with it either. They lacked the excitement that Avengers: Infinity War and The Winter Solider had.
Overall, while Captain Marvel suffers from poorly done action scenes, and a horrible musical score, the film however delivers on the story line, setting up a exciting Avengers: Endgame, awesome visual effects, good twists and turns, and strong performances from Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Lashana Lynch, and Jude Law.
Out of 4 stars I would give it...
