My Review of "Godzilla: King of the Monsters"

Godzilla has its strong qualities, but lacks the heart and excitement of the first film.

The story line did well in introducing and explaining each of the monsters. However, it also lacked the heart, which the first film did really good at, concerning the human characters. The pacing was really bad as well, while I enjoy a good buildup to an exciting showdown, it took way to long and the film needed more action scenes.

The film's visual effects were spectacular, probably the best I have ever seen this year. The musical score was incredible as well.

The film's action scenes were very disappointing and felt anti-climatic. The monsters slow movement was a huge problem for me, I hate slow moving action scenes and prefer more fast paced action scenes. Kong: Skull Island's action scenes were much better done.

The acting in this film was really good. Kyle Chandler, who ironically played in Peter Jackson's 2005 version of King Kong, did an excellent job, as did Millie Bobby Brown, 11 from Stranger Thing. The director did a great job with his casting.

Overall, while Godzilla: King of the Monsters features some outstanding visual effects, interesting monsters, an excellent musical score, and strong performances Kyle Chandler and Millie Bobby Brown, the film suffers from its poor pacing, lack of heart surrounding its characters, and lackluster action scenes, making this a huge disappointment compared to Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island.

My Review of "Aladdin (2019)"

Disney, you have done it again.

The story line hit home for me, and the changes made to it were really good. Guy Ritchie's direction and screenplay were excellent, Disney made the right choice in hiring him as the director.

The characterization was good as well. While many argued that the characterization and portrayal of Jafar was weak, I heavily disagree. I feel that he was the best actor in the film, and that his backstory was something the original film lacked.

The acting was strong as well. While Will Smith is not a better Gene then Robin Williams, he certainly was still a great casting choice. The casting of Jafar I felt was the best part of the movie. Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott were perfectly cast as Aladdin and Jasmine as well.

The musical numbers were great. They all had really good singing voices. The standout songs were "Never had a friend like me", "A Whole New World", and "Arabian Nights". The visuals in the movie were really good also, don't care what the critics said.

Overall, Aladdin delivered thanks to Guy Ritchie's unique and great direction, strong visuals, great musical numbers, solid characterization, and strong performances from Marwan Kenzari, Will Smith, Naomi Scott, and Mena Massoud, to make this another great film to put on Guy Ritchie's already incredible resume.

My Review of "Pokemon Detective Pikachu"

Ryan Reynolds shines in a dull film.

The story line was standard and predictable. I knew what was going to happen, and it failed to keep my interested.

The creature designs were well done. How they did it was good, and I was impressed with how real it looked.

The live action acting was dull, and made me cringe. Justice Smith did not do a great job, and Bill Night and Ken Watanabe were cringe worthy as well.

Ryan Reynolds was great as Pikachu. Hopefully he does the voice again the sequel.

The humor was well done sometimes. The mime seen was the best in the film.

Overall, while Pokemon Detective Pikachu has some great visuals, some well done humor, and a great voice performance from Ryan Reynolds, the film suffers from a poor story and horrible acting.
