A Haunting in Venice: Review

A Haunting in Venice is another solid whodunit movie!

While the story line took a little bit to get going, when it did, it was such a mysterious film. There were certain plot details I had guessed ahead of time, but I didn't know who the killer was until about 2 seconds before it was revealed!

The acting was great. Kenneth Branagh did another great job as Detective Poirot, and I liked how we got more character development from him in this movie! Tina Fey was solid as the comic relief (But I felt that a lot of her scenes where she tried to kill the tension kind of ruined the suspenseful atmosphere of this movie. Not her fault though). Kelly Reilly was a great actress, she fits so well in mystery movies (Sherlock Holmes was another good example of how well she fits).

The atmosphere was perfect! Trying to find a murderer is a haunted house is the perfect kind of setting for this kind of movie. Kenneth's direction fit so well to.

I want to continue to see more films set in this universe. There is so much you can do.

No One Will Save You: Review

While the camera work is well done, the first act is well written, and Kaitlyn Deaver manages to hold her own, No Where to Hide is not exciting, poorly paced, and lacks genuinely scary jump scares.

Sometimes, a generic alien movie is better than trying to have a twist!

The Last Voyage of the Demeter: Review

While the ending is a bit questionable, I understand what they were doing.

The story line in this film was very good. They did a good job at developing these characters, and actually making you like them. Dracula's characterization was perfect as well. Loved how ruthless he was, and how he had a sinister personality about him. The design was amazing as well!

The acting was really good as well. Corey Hawkins did a great job, and showed that he can lead a movie under the right circumstances, and when he is given a very good script. Liam Cunningham did a great job as Captain Elliot. You really felt bad for him when his grandson was killed by Dracula. David Dastmalchian was the best actor. You really felt the anger in his performance, and why he decided to sink the boat in the end.

The suspense was perfect. Setting the movie on a boat made it very claustrophobic. You never knew where he was hiding, or when he was going to show up and start killing again. Very well done direction, and production design as well.

The ending was questionable though! While I feel they should not have had any survivors, I understand why they went the way they did. Unfortunately it will amount to nothing in the end, because the movie was a flop. I hope it picks up in home media sales though!

If they do another Dracula movie, I hope it does feature the Demeter again, but make it to where Van Helsing is the main character again. I hope Mark Strong plays Dracula, and that Christopher Nolan directs it.
