Puss in Boots: The Last Wish: Review

Puss in Boots: The Last Wish was well worth the 11 years that it took to make this sequel, and it is easily my favorite movie in the Shrek Franchise.

The story line in this movie was very witty, and well written. I loved the way the story was handled, and I was also really glad that the movie did not get bogged down by bad pacing. The story also had a lot of good themes, and plenty of heart to it.

The voice cast was outstanding! Antonio Banderas still sounded great as Puss in Boots, even though it has been 11 years since the last film. Salma Hayek, while sounding like she had aged in the past 11 years, was still charming as ever as Kitty Softpaws. Florence Pugh was perfect as Goldilocks, even if it was hard to tell it was her because of the fact that she was using her natural British accent and not her fake Russian one LOL.  John Mulaney as "Big" Jack Horner stole the show!

The new characters were amazing. Goldilocks and the three bears were more entertaining than I expected them to be. "Big" Jack Horner was no doubt the best character in the movie. His one-liners were drop dead hilarious. I was shocked that Jiminy Cricket was in the movie, and man did he have some great scenes as well.

In terms of a sequel, I have heard that a 5th Shrek movie is in development. If that is true, I really hope that Kitty Softpaws is in it. I am also wondering how they are going to top "Big" Jack Horner, that guy was the best villain in the franchise! I am so excited to see how they proceed!

Out of 4 stars I would give it...

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery: Updated Review

After thinking more about Glass Onion, I was not too thrilled with the twist, and I felt the characters and humor were better written in the original film. Still a good movie though!

Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery: Review

Glass Onion had big shoes to fill, and it does the unthinkable by outdoing the first film in many ways!

The story line was amazing. I loved all of the different twists and turns that came with it. I was really glad that it did not feel like a copy and paste of the original movie. Rian Johnson did a great job at how he handled the direction this movie took, while still having a lot of humor, and character development to go along with it.

The acting was amazing. While the cast and characters were better in the first film, the cast and characters still held their own very well. Daniel Craig once again was hilarious as Benoit Blanc. Edward Norton had a much bigger role than I was expecting, and he did a great job at how he portrayed his character. Janelle Monae absolutely stole the show with her dual performance, easily the best actor in the film.

There are plenty of directions they can go in a sequel. I really hope that Rian continues to add a unique twist to his movies, while keeping the same style of direction he brings to the table.

My dream cast for a sequel are Sigourney Weaver, Alfred Molina, Hayden Christensen, Bryce Dallas Howard, Woody Harrelson, and Blake Lively. This would be a fun cast!
